It happens when the arteries or blood vessels become narrower, and the walls of the arteries become hardened due to the deposition of plaque in them, thus making the blood flow difficult.

There are innumerable causes.

1. Hereditary:  If you have any family history of Hypertension.

2. Lifestyle Factors: Sedentary lifestyle, poor eating habits, irregular meals, skipping meals, and then going on binge eating. Disturbed sleeping patterns affect your eating patterns and can lead to emotional eating that raises glucose levels and fast or junk food that contains saturated fats which leads to bad cholesterol in the body.

3. Foods that promote insulin resistance: Sugary foods, Saturated fats, butter in any form, Oily foods, processed foods, candies, pastries, and almost all types of sugar-rich items.


4. Lack of physical activity: Not incorporating physical exercise in your daily routine is one of the factors that results in the buildup of extra calories in the form of bad cholesterol in the body. If this bad cholesterol is not burnt up then its gradual accumulation in the blood vessels can result in the form of plaque which plays a big role in narrowing the blood vessels thereby increasing the risk factor of high blood pressure. 

5. Diabetes: If you are already suffering from diabetes or any form of diabetes then these health conditions play a huge role in increasing hypertension. High blood pressure is highly caused due to insulin resistance and if you are deficient in a potassium or magnesium-rich diet then pay attention to it.


6. Side effects of pills or medicines: Medicines that treat infections, immunosuppressants, colds, and cough medicines lower your immunity power and increase the risk of high blood pressure.

People suffering from high blood pressure usually display these symptoms

1. Dizziness

2. Difficulty Breathing or shortness of breath

3. Irritation if someone is already suffering from diabetes or thyroid problems.


Well, some lifestyle, dietary, and home remedies can be used that effectively treat and lower your high blood pressure to a significant level.


Lifestyle and Dietary changes:


1. Start eating green leafy vegetables, foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Foods that are rich in vitamin D, magnesium, and potassium are must-eat foods as they lower the glucose level that builds up due to high sodium or salt intake.


2. Incorporate any physical exercise like yoga, dancing, pilates, Zumba, or gym if you can, or do any household activity that makes you physically active such as gardening, or walking up the stairs.


3. Avoid oily and sugary foods since they are not easily digested and can raise sugar levels in the body.


4. Drink Lots of fluids, not sugary or canned ones. Drinking plain water or lukewarm water helps in flushing out the toxins from the body.


Natural Remedies:


1. Soak 2 tbsp Flax Seeds overnight in a bowl and have it empty stomach in the morning. This promotes healthy blood circulation and is rich in many nutrients including Omega-3 fatty acids.


2. Soak 3-4 Dates in a bowl and in the morning drink its water and then eat these dates. This will promote potassium levels in your body treat the problem of insulin resistance and also bring down the sodium level. Diabetic people can also consume it.


3. The last one is very effective in bringing sugar levels down and treating high blood pressure. Consuming fenugreek seeds. Soak it overnight( 1 tbsp) and chew it after consuming the water in the morning.
